Santorum’s Out – What do Conservatives Do Now?
With Santorum’s unexpected bowing out of the GOP Presidential Race, exactly what options are conservative left with? Once again the GOP Establishment has managed to pick our candidate, and what have the RINO’s given us? ‘The man who lost to the man who lost to Obama’. Sounds like the second chorus of the same song. This Presidential Primary Race has been like no other. It has exposed that Romney has a darker side he willingly used against his opponents. Some of you are probably saying – just more sour grapes, or, he did what he had to, to win, or, all he did was play politics…..
To that I answer no. His willingness to win at any cost, by ruthlessness, against his own fellow Party members, I find disturbing.
I am a Conservative! I believe in the United States Constitution! I also believe America can not survive a second term under Obama. Obama will do more damage than the next president could undo, even if we could last that long.
If Romney is elected in November, I believe his RINO supporters will advise him to ignore the pleas from Tea Partiers and other Conservatives begging him to reduce the size, the spending, and the power grabbing of our government. These RINOs will encourage Romney to continue down the path of fiscal irresponsibility American’s are experiencing now, in order to allow them (the RINOs) to gorge themselves from the public tax coffers. He owes them for where he now is. How can he refuse them?
That said, I can play politics too. Mitt Romney MUST still win my vote! AND, I want something from him. I propose that Conservatives of all stripes join one another to request that Romney commit on paper his positions and specific solutions on issues like, but not limited to: reducing our National Debt, ending the Governments’ war on American business so as to allow job creation, reducing Government (like decommissioning the EPA and NEA), and what he will do to loosen the stranglehold Unions have on Federal, State, and Local governments. I know he can just lie about his answers, but at least we will know if he truly is the Liberal/Progressive some claim he is, and remember in 2016 what to do to right our error. It will take the next GOP controlled House, Senate, and the alliance of ALL Conservative groups to hold reign on Romney and the RINOs.
If Romney declares on paper his solutions to these issues that so desperately need to be addressed and rectified, then I will vote for him. If he doesn’t, as bad as I want Obama to be un-elected, I may boycott the November elections and stay home. To get my vote, Romney must convince me he will act as a conservative, even if he doesn’t want to act like one.
DON’T GIVE UP! GET TO WORK!
Our Government’s War on America ?
Electrical Generating Plants are in danger of being closed. Government owned lands once open to use by the public are now off limits to recreational use and individuals prospecting for minerals and gems. These things seem unrelated, but are they?
In 2008, then candidate Obama revealed his intentions to eliminate the use of Coal, no matter how clean it could be made to burn. He promised to raise the cost of using Coal so high, no one could afford to use it. He also stated Gasoline should cost $7 to $10 a gallon to reduce its’ consumption. I kept asking myself why our own government demonstrates such veracity to eliminate sources of cheap power, reduce American’s ability to travel to work, and drive the cost of ALL products up significantly, once again adding more pressure on people already straining to provide the basic necessities for their families.
I submit to you a possible reason for such behavior. I believe this administration has implemented these measures to reduce, even completely stop, the American public from consuming these resources. Why? America’s financial condition has made China and other lender nations uneasy as to whether she will fall into Bankruptcy and be unable to repay them. I believe China and the other countries have demanded that our government hold these resources in reserve as collateral for our debt. If America continues on its’ present course, they could be right. These lender nations are protecting their investment by demanding our government force us to sacrifice using what is ours in order to legally take our natural resources for repayment of our debt.
Meanwhile, our elected officials would rather ignore the problem and continue to borrow and spend America’s future away than work to fix the problem. If re-elected, Obama will devastate America, possibly beyond rescue, with unrestrained Spending and additional Debt, no matter who holds the Senate and House. If one of the GOP candidates is elected, conservatives must unite and hold them to a budget that will redress this ‘Out of Control Spending’ and correct Americas’ course to reduce our Debt as quickly as possible. This will not be easy, but in my opinion, our country’s very existence, and our children’s future, depends on it.
Libertarianism and Republicans
As a conservative Republican, I am confused by my party’s leadership. They permit members of another party to partake in debates to select our candidates for office. The party I am speaking of is the Libertarian Party. I doubt if many of you who are reading this have ever visited the Libertarian Party website or read their Party Platform, so permit me to highlight some of the differences for you.
1.2 Personal Privacy:
“ ….We favor the repeal of all laws creating “crimes” without victims, such as the use of drugs for medicinal and recreational purposes.”
Libertarians support the legalization of ALL DRUGS, for any use. They believe drug abuse to be a victimless crime. As a former drug counselor, I assure you it is not. The families, friends, and neighbors of drug users are victimized, some to the point of death, everyday by the crimes committed by drug sellers and users.
1.3 Personal Relationships:
“…Government does not have the authority to define, license, or restrict personal relationships. Consenting adults should be free to choose their own sexual practices and personal relationships.”
Libertarians support legalization of same sex marriages, polygamy, bestiality, and any other combination of partners or sexual perversion you could dream up.
1.4 Abortion:
“…we believe that government should be kept out of the matter….”
Libertarians state in their Statement of Principles that they believe in (1) the Right to Life, (2) the Right to liberty of speech and action, and (3) the Right to property.
Evidentially, these don’t apply to all people. Also, in 2.9 Health Care, Libertarians condone euthanasia.
2.1 Property and Contract
“… We advocate the repeal of all laws banning or restricting the advertising of prices, products, or services. We oppose all violations of the right to private property, liberty of contract, and freedom of trade.”
Libertarians believe it should be legal to advertise prices for recreational drugs and/or sexual acts on TV.
2.3 Energy and Resources:
“…. We oppose all government control of energy pricing, allocation, and production.”
Libertarians want the free market to set all prices.
2.6 Monopolies and Corporations:
“ We defend the right of individuals to form corporations, cooperatives, and other types of companies based on voluntary association.
Libertarians believe it should be legal for companies to form policies to set uniform prices for products, i.e. gasoline. Policies like price fixing were made illegal, especially in the late 1800s/early 1900s because companies were monopolizing resources, overcharging, and making astronomical profits.
3.3 International Affairs:
“…..We would end the current U.S. government policy of foreign intervention, including military and economic aid.
Libertarians would end ALL Foreign Aid. I would agree with the majority of that, but there are still a few countries that are our real friends and need our help, i.e. Israel.
3.4 Free Trade and Migration:
“ We support the removal of governmental impediments to free trade.,,, Economic freedom demands the unrestricted movement of human as well as financial capital across national borders.”
Libertarians support an “Open Border policy.
Libertarians seem to have an unrealistic world view that man is basically good. The Bible teaches that is not the case, but we all suffer from our imperfections and selfishness. While I like some of the economic solutions presented by Libertarians, their stance on moral issues is unacceptable. To advocate legalization of recreational drugs, prostitution, and opening our borders without any restrictions to foreign migrants goes against my conservatives ideals. Then to turn our backs on helping our few remaining friends and isolating ourselves from the rest of the world is irresponsible, even suicidal.
It is unfortunate that the GOP leadership allows Ron Paul and John Huntsman an outlet for these types of radical, and in my opinion, un- American, concepts to be presented and in essence given credence, by the Republican Primary process. In an effort to appear ‘tolerant’, our leaders hope to gain votes from Libertarians. In reality, Ron Paul supporters will write in Ron Pauls’ name on their ballot next election. They will not vote for a GOP candidate. So much for the ‘Big Tent’ theory.
I say, “let Libertarians campaign on their own platform and stay off ours!”
GOP PARTY ISSUES
I want to address several issues.
First, I want to state that I have not chosen a candidate for the GOP nomination, and I won’t until the Convention chooses our candidate. That is because All candidates have some good ideas and I want to hear them. I want to hear the positives about these people, but I also want to hear the negatives. I don’t want to “pass the bill to find out what’s in it”, in this case vote for someone only to discover they have some really strange views on issues I hold dear. So I keep an open but alert mind regarding the agendas of all the candidates. I am human, so I am drawn more to some than others, but I still listen to all of them.
In honesty, ALL candidates have skeletons in their closets; issues they supported only to discover later they wish they had not endorsed or opposed; or in ignorance of the issue, made inaccurate comments on.
We all know this is the most important election cycle in Americas’ history, I’m saying, Lets’ Get It Right This Time! Let’s all look beyond our pet issues and scrutinize each candidate’s agenda. See all their warts and wrinkles. Understand what agenda they are asking you to support. Polls, while serving a purpose, also tend to sabotage good candidates. Stop believing the media’s mantra, “They aren’t electable”. The media wants to pick Winners and Losers for us. I WOULD RATHER PICK MY OWN! I firmly believe that whichever one of our GOP candidates is chosen, they will beat Obama next November.
Secondly, I must address this issue. Mr. Paul and Mr. Huntsmann openly describe themselves as Libertarians. Why are they running in the Republican Primary? The GOP and Libertarian Party Platforms do not share the same values and beliefs. I think Libertarians have some great ideas on economics, but in other areas, their views and mine (and probably yours’) are 180 degrees apart. To give them an opportunity to hijack our Party is beyond my logic and common sense.
I would encourage Libertarians to run on their own Libertarian Party Ticket.
We are in the Primary season. A lot of things now unforeseen will happen before next August. We don’t have to make our minds up until then, BUT once our candidate is chosen, all Republicans need to unite behind that person and support them 100% to insure Mr. Obama is a one term President.
IS A CANDIDATES’ RELIGIOUS FAITH FREE TO QUESTION?
Last weekend at the Values Voter Summit, a Christian pastor raised the question of whether Christians should vote for Mitt Romney because he is of the Mormon faith. The Pastor was lambasted from the GOP RINOs and from the liberal media as a religious bigot. Monday night Ann Coulter, commenting on Fox, dismissed the question as irreverent, and in my opinion, she flippantly mocked Christians by describing Mormonism as merely another Christian denomination.
Some of the major differences between Christianity and Mormonism are:
Mormons believe Satan is the elder brother of Jesus;
That Jesus tricked God the Father into giving Jesus Satan’s birthright to rule over the earth, and someday Satan will come back to earth to reclaim his rightful kingship over the earth from Jesus;
Mormons believe when they die, their spirit goes to another planet where they are awarded a group of celestial virgins to populate a new and different planet and become its’ Christ.
When they convert others to Mormonism, at death those people will join them and become their slaves.
Until recently, the mid 1900’s, people of color were not allow to join the Mormon Church.
These differences, and there are more, show such a radical deviation from the Christian faith there is no joining the two.
I believe, with respect to Karl Rove’s and Ann Coulter’s opinions (both Romney supporters), that the Pastor’s question is relevant and appropriate.
Just as conservatives demanded in 2007 of then candidate Obama to answer why he sat in a church for twenty years listening to Pastor Wright spew hatred for America, Mitt Romney, who claims he is a longtime, proudly practicing Mormon, must answer if his character has been built upon theology such as described above, and how it affects and influences his decision making processes.
That isn’t being anti-Mormon, it’s being prudent. A man’s faith should affect his character and how he lives his life every day. If it hasn’t changed him, it’s a
phony faith, worthless… and so is his character.
The Libertarian Party Platform
There are at least two Libertarians running for the GOP Presidential nomination. Many conservatives like Ron Paul, and I admit I like his stance on some of the issues, i.e. a Balanced Budget Amendment and his claim to be Pro-Life. Here comes the BUT. The Libertarian Party Platform exposes their belief that ‘man is good’ and bases their idea of what our government should be on a utopian world view.
In their Party Platform Preamble, they advocate “that only through freedom can peace and prosperity be realized” and “The world we seek to build is one where individuals are free to follow their own dreams in their own ways, without interference from government …”. The last paragraph reads, “These specific policies are not our goal, however. Our goal is nothing less than a world set free in our lifetime, and it is to this end that we take these stands”.
I may be pessimistic, but this world is not full of peaceful utopian countries. Most nations hate America, not because of what we do, although some do, but because of who we are, specifically, Christians, at least a majority are. Whether Ron Paul and other Libertarians acknowledge it or not, the truth is Islamic clerics and Imams teach Muslim children passages in the Koran that mandate the killing of non-Muslims if they do not accept Islam as their faith. These people tell us every day that they want to conquer the world by either social jihad or a violent jihad to subjugate all people under Sharia Law.
In addition to the blind eye policy toward the Islamic threat, Libertarians advocate their own brand of social engineering. Libertarians would legalize all drugs and prostitution, open all our borders to allow foreign national to come in to this country to work, end all foreign subsidies – a good idea except we need to support and help defend the few friends we have left i.e. Israel, Canada, and most of the European countries. Libertarian policies would be disastrous. They would allow the strong to victimize the weak.
Please research their agenda for yourself at http://www.lp.org/platform
The Great Debate – Round Florida
The great debate – Round three was mostly more of the same old yow yow. The media , the US version of Pravda, continues to constrict the exposure of all of the candidates except for the Establishment sweethearts, the RINO DUO, Perry and Romney. I don’t know if I can vote for either one of them, even against Obama. I would have to take an airsick baggie into the voting booth.
Perry’s blatant defense on state subsidies for illegals in state schools and his government mandated inoculations & Romney’s defense of Romney-Care and his liberal stance on Social Security have killed my interest in supporting either of them. Both have lately talked of overturning ObamaCare if they became President, but who has been fighting that battle since the beginning – Michele Bachmann. Santorum also has a strong history against Spending and Waste.
I would love to hear more from Bachmann, Santorum, Cain, and Gingrich. They are the true conservatives and have given the most detailed solutions on issues. Why do conservatives fall for the Establishments’ lies that only a moderate (Liberal RINO) can get elected. I am not sorry to tell it like it is. America cannot survive another Liberal, Business as usual, Tax and Spend President, Dem or Rep. America’s Debt Clock is ticking and tocking closer and closer to the point our debt doom will not be stoppable.
It is time we the people take a stand for our country and her people. We need to vote for someone with morals fortitude and a willingness to do what is right, not what is politically correct. We need to vote our conscience, not give someone our vote that has not earned it and does not deserve it. But we vote for them because we have been told by people who say they are smarter than we are, only one of the RINO DUO can win.
The truth is, any one of the people on the stage last night would win against Obama. I believe even Obama knows it. That is why he has not moderated his social agenda after the 2010 midterm elections. He knows his time is short. He only needs to sway a few moderate Republicans to support him and he will continue to fundamentally change America into a new Yugoslavia.
